He further alleged that maximum cases of rhino poaching were reported during his ministership as Forest Minister. “Deforestation went to an extreme level in the state during that time. He was a failure minister,” he added.

While dubbing Pradyut Bordoloi as ‘king of darkness’, Borah said, “When Bordoloi was Power Minister, people in the villages did not receive electricity connections.” He further challenged Bordoloi to come with factual proof about the coal syndicate in Tinsukia district.

On June 23rd, 2019, Pradyut Bordoloi accused the Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal of ‘running coal syndicate’ in Margherita legislative constituency in Tinsukia district.

“Coal syndicate is running in the district under the guidance of the Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal. The Tinsukia Deputy Commissioner, Superintendent of Police, the Forest Department, Commerce and Industry Department, Pollution Control Board including a certain section of media professionals are involved in the coal syndicate in the district. All are in the rat race to become rich,” Bordoloi said in Digboi.

Expressing his concern over the deforestation, he said, “All the reserve forests are now on the verge of extinction due to coal syndicate but the Chief Minister is not bothered. Wearing a tilak at forehead does not mean that he is honest.”
