BJP To Fight BTC General Elections Alone

BJP will fight the BTC elections alone and will perform well: Bhabesh Kalita

Ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) will fight the general elections of the Bodoland Territorial Council (BTC) alone.

After a watertight meeting held the residence of Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal on March 1st, 2020, the saffron party made it clear that it won’t go for an alliance in the elections.

Bhabesh Kalita, Minister of Irrigation (Independent), said, “BJP will fight the elections alone and will perform well.” He informed that the saffron party has formed a three-member committee for the elections.

Besides, the minister informed that the BJP will hold a meeting with its allies Asom Gana Parishad (AGP) and the Bodoland Peoples’ Front (BPF) on March 2nd, 2020 in Guwahati.

Earlier, the BTC chief Hagrama Mohilary had expressed his confidence about winning the BTC elections with a spectacular result. On contrary to that, Kokrajhar parliamentarian Naba Sarania, while expressing his confidence over pocketing the council, had said that ‘nobody can save Mohilary this time’.
