Agartala/Guwahati, December 5: Alleging about the deteriorating law and order situation in the state and to protest against the recent killing of one BJP worker, the BJP in Tripura on Tuesday staged a massive protest against the police by gheraoing police stations across the state.
In Agartala, the BJP workers were led by State President Biplab Deb and other senior leaders who sieged the West Agartala Police Station.
Talking to the media State President Biplab Deb alleged that over the past one year, a number of BJP workers had been killed by CPI (M) cadres but the police took no action to nab the culprits despite FIRs being filed in police stations.
He alleged that the police personnel in police stations have been working at the behest of CPI (M) party to victimise the opposition. He also claimed that a ‘Mafia Raj’ is going on in Tripura, so they demanded a positive role of police keeping in view of ensuing assembly election.
Viewing the situation, security was stepped up in all the police stations.
