Guwahati: The cattle smuggling racket doesn’t seem to stop at any cost. Despite regular apprehension of cattle smugglers and seizure of cattle heads along the Indo-Bangladesh borders of Dhubri and other districts of Assam, the racket continues to remain unabated.
On Saturday, in yet another operation, the Dhubri Police seized a boat loaded with a herd of cattle while sailing into the waters of Bangladesh from the Assam side.
Dhubri Police said, “Three persons were arrested and 56 cattle rescued in the operation.” The South Salmara Mankachar Police also assisted their Dhubri counterpart in the mission.
Earlier on Friday, Dhubri Police seized Rs. 6 Lakh in cash and several bank passbooks from the house of absconding illegal cattle trader Eunus Ali.
On August 5, at least four members from Goalpara involved in the international cattle smuggling racket were also arrested en route with cash by Dhubri Police.
