Guwahati, July 7: The body of a two-year-old girl from South West Garo Hills in Meghalaya, who was feared drowned, was recovered in Bangladesh on Friday.
As per reports, the girl child had drowned in river Rongkai at Magurmari village under Zikzak Block on July 3. She had gone to the river for a bath with her mother.
The parents of the child had filed a missing report with the South West Garo Hills police on July 3. Based on the complaint, a search operation was launched.
The body has been handed over to the parents following the post-mortem at the Tura Civil Hospital.
“The body of the girl was recovered in Bangladesh and was handed over at a place call Mama-Bhagina, close to the international border,” said South West Garo Hills Superintendent of Police, Bobby W Momin.
