‘Boyfriend’ rapes, murders 17-year-old girl in Assam’s Gohpur

Guwahati: In a heinous incident, a 17-year-old was allegedly raped and murdered by her ‘boyfriend’ in Gohpur in Biswanath district of Assam.

The incident occurred on the evening of July 11, when the accused Abraham Musahari took the victim to Naya Ghogra Tea Garden to spend time with her. But the accused allegedly raped and murdered her and left the body near a river.

When the girl went missing for three days, her family members conducted a search operation and discovered the body of the victim lying near a river inside the Naya Ghogra Tea Garden on Wednesday morning.

The accused Musahari has been arrested by the police and the body has been sent for post mortem report.

Condemning the incident, the Bodo Women Welfare Council of Gohpur said, “We as the women welfare council urge the authorities to take strict actions against the culprit as soon as possible.”

“We went to the family and asked regarding the incident, they said that the accused and the victim were in a relation for almost two years but unfortunately the victim was murdered by her loved one,” the women council added.
