1,615 NDFB Cadres Lay Down Arms In Guwahati

A total of 1,615 cadres of three factions of National Democratic Front of Boroland (NDFB) along with 178 arms and 4803 ammunitions officially surrendered at the arms laying down ceremony in Guwahati on January 30th, 2020.

836 cadres of the NDFB(P) surrendered with 116 arms, 3245 ammunition, 14 grenades, 1 mortar, 579 of the NDFB(RD) surrendered with 24 arms and 200 of the NDFB(S) surrendered with 178 arms, 4803 ammunition, 14 grenades and 1 mortar.

The ceremony was held at GMCH Auditorium, Bhangagarh, Guwahati in presence of Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal, Finance Minister and NEDA Convenor Himanta Biswa Sarma, Assam DGP Bhaskar Jyoti Mahanta along with other senior officials.

The development came after the Union home ministry on January 27th, 2020 signed a tripartite agreement with all the four factions of the NDFB and Assam government. The four factions of the NDFB, which signed the pact, are led by Ranjan Daimary, Govinda Basumatary, Dhiren Boro and B Saoraigwra. The All Bodo Students’ Union was the key signatory of the Bodo Accord.
