BREAKING: 70 indigenous groups desert Akhil Gogoi; Withdraw support
Guwahati: Raijor Dal (RD) legislator Akhil Gogoi faced a major jolt on Monday as 70 indigenous groups which were with him since 2018, have announced to snap its ties with RD and Gogoi.
The decision came after the groups claimed that Gogoi’’s party has failed to deliver and represent the people’s sentiments and issues in the state assembly house.
Bidyut Kalita, president All Assam United Yuva Parishad, told media, “The aim that we had taken while joining hands in 2018 seemed to be fading out. The Raijor Dal and its leadership are now busy doing politics and did not even consulted with us on any issue.”
The leaders alleged that Gogoi has been running the party single handedly leading to the dissatisfaction of several party workers.
“We are liable to public and that’s why we have decided to withdraw our support from Raijro Dal. Soon we will hold a convention and decide on our future strategy. Our movement against Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA), big dam will continue,” the members added.
