The MLAs held a silent protest holding placards which read “We Will Not Accept CAA”, “Withdraw CAA”. Ever since the bill has turned into a legislation Assam including parts of Northeast has been witnessing massive protests.

Earlier on January 3rd, 2020, former three-time Assam Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi had said that the Congress will move a resolution in the special session demanding implementation of Assam Accord in letter and spirit and to ensure that the act is not implemented in the state.

Meanwhile, the special session of the Assam Assembly today was slated to begin with Governor Jagdish Mukhi’s address followed by a motion of thanks. After his speech, the House will hold discussions on the ratification of extension of the reservation for SC/ST status.
