Guwahati: The Kamrup (metro) district administration has announced the closure of all educational institutes in the capital city of Guwahati owing to the incessant rain condition. On Tuesday, several educational institutes in the city remained submerged with flash flood waters too.
Heavy downpour since Monday evening over the city has resulted in flash flood in majority parts of the city. Landslide caused by rain also took at least four lives in the city on Tuesday as water logging continued in low-lying area of the city.
State disaster response force (SDRF) has been deployed in the city itself to rescue stranded citizens from water logged areas.
Meanwhile, weather department has alerted that constant rainfall over the city may occur in the next couple of days creating massive panic amongst city denizens.
Kamrup (metro) deputy commissioner Pallav Gopal Jha in a notification said, “All educational institutes including both government and private will remain closed on Wednesday as weather department has alerted about possible heavy rain in the city areas.”
However, examinations already scheduled will be conducted, he added.
