    Breaking: Arms Seized in Guwahati ahead of I-Day

    The location from where they were held was a few hundred meters away from the playground where the central Independence Day celebration is usually observed

    Guwahati: Ahead of Independence Day, Guwahati Police crime branch on Wednesday held at least five people in an operation from the city’s Khanapara area.

    The police sleuth also seized one .32 mm pistol from their possession.

    Sources said that the gang was on their way from Goalpara’s Dhupdhora area to Sonapur area.

    “The gang was intercepted in front of the veterinary college gate while traveling in two vehicles. At least eight live bullets were also seized from their possession. We suspect they are part of arms running racket,” police sources informed.

    The location from where they were held was merely a few hundred meters away from the institute’s playground where the central Independence Day celebration is usually observed.

    Crime branch said that they were continuing the operation till filing of the report.
