    Assam Govt To Cut Salaries Of Employees To Fight Against Coronavirus Crisis

    The deducted salaries will be refunded in the next financial year with a 4.5 per cent interest

    In a big move to fight against the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, the Assam government on March 27th, 2020, decided to deduct 10-20 per cent of the state government employees’ salaries of the current month.

    This was decided after a meeting between the Finance Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma and the Assam Employees’ Association.

    The deducted salaries will be refunded in the next financial year with a 4.5 per cent interest.

    The nation is currently under complete lockdown for 21 days. A total of 753 cases have been reported in India so far. Of which 666 are confirmed cases while 20 died of coronavirus.

    Assam, however, has not registered any case yet. Manipur and Mizoram from Northeast India reported one case each.
