Guwahati: The Assam police on Saturday suspended the officer-in-charge of Batadrava police station Kumud Gogoi for failure in preventing the mob from going on a rampage outside the police station.
On the other hand, strict action has been initiated against other on-duty police personnel at Batadrava police station.
This was informed by DIG (Central Range) Satya Raj Hazarika on Saturday while taking stock of the situation in Batadrava.
Notably, an enraged mob of villagers attacked a police station after a man died in custody at Batadrava constituency in Nagaon district on Saturday.
A policeman was brutally injured while a few others sustained minor injuries in the attack.
The angry mob broke into the Batadrava police station and ransacked the police station. Later, the mob set the police station on fire.
Meanwhile, three people have been arrested for attacking the police station, while the operation to nab the other culprits is on.
