BREAKING: Days after joining Congress, Sum Ronghang gets ticket from Diphu; Raton Engti from Bokajan
GUWAHATI: Almost immediately after joining the Congress party, former BJP minister Sum Ronghang got a ticket from the Congress party to fight from the Diphu constituency.
On Thursday, the Congress party here announced names of two constituencies-Diphu and Bokajan, seats reserved for schedule tribe (ST) candidates.
Ronghang has joined the Congress party on March 7 after being denied a ticket from BJP to contest the polls. He was the sitting MLA of Diphu.
While joining Congress, Ronghang had said, “I performed my job with full dedication. However, I did not get the ticket due to the conspiracy of certain individuals.”
Besides him, Congress has also announced to field Raton Engti from Bokajan. Engti too was a BJP till 2019 and then switched sides. He was BJP’s media convenor in Karbi Anglong district.
This was the fourth list of the party for the Assam polls. It had earlier announced lists of 26, 40 and three candidates on three separate occasions. The party has been leading the ‘grand alliance of opposition parties this poll.
