BREAKING: Dispur extends deadline for filing application for an alteration of areas of BTR

GUWAHATI: Assam government on Tuesday has extended the last date for filing an application for an alteration of areas of the Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR). The alteration of the existing Bodoland Territorial Council (BTC) was agreed upon in the latest BTR Accord.

According to an official communication issued by Political (A) Department,
Government of Assam, the last date for submission of application relating to the
suggestions/demands from the various organizations/parties for inclusion and exclusion of
villages under BTR has been extended to 25 th January, 2021.

An official notification said that the state government has made an extension of time for submission of the application to the PP Verma Commission for an alteration of areas of the BTR.

Earlier, the state government said, “Villages located on the bordering areas of Bodoland Territorial Area Districts (BTAD) with more than 50% Bodo population can apply to be part of BTR. Similarly, non-Bodo villages can also apply to opt-out of BTR.”
