    BREAKING: Four held with Arms & Ammo in City

    Security has been tightened up in the city and state ahead of the Independence Day as ULFA (Independent) has called Independence Day boycott

    GUWAHATI: Ahead of the Independence Day, Assam Police have held at least four persons and seized arms and ammunition from their possession on Thursday.

    As per police, based on a tip-off, a team lead by Sonapur Police raided two houses and searched at Jogukuchi area of Sonapur, on the outskirts of the city.

    After the search, two persons namely Pradip Deka and Apurba Medhi were apprehended.

    “Based on their confession, another house at Pakhiyabari, Teteliguri under Khetri PS was also searched. From there one country made ( written as made in USA on the revolver ) revolver, five rounds of 9mm live ammunition, nine packets of suspected brown sugar were recovered and seized along with four mobile handsets. Another two persons namely, Rana Deka and Rafi Khan from Thoubal district Manipur were also apprehended,” police sources said.
