The Guwahati Crime Branch on May 16th, 2019 launched heavy police checking across the Guwahati city and are interrogating a woman for her suspected involvement in the grenade blast that rocked the Guwahati city on Wednesday late evening.
As per information, the woman identified as Jahnabi Saikia is currently under police interrogation. She was residing at House No 10, Namghar path along the Masjid road, Panjabari for the last 10 days.
The police have confirmed that Saikia was in close links with the pro-talk ULFA member Pranamoy Rajguru who used to often visit her house. Along with one 9MM pistol, 35 rounds of live bullets, 70 kg of explosive materials used to make IEDs, ULFA-I flag, a scooty suspected to have been used in the blast and documents have been recovered from the house till the filing of this news.
Meanwhile, a team of forensic experts have reached the house and have taken the samples for testing.
“At present, we cannot divulge if the items recovered are used to make bombs, we are taking are samples for testing,” said a forensic expert.
It may be mentioned that chaos filled with fear psychosis gripped Guwahati after a massive blast exploded in Guwahati’s zoo road at around 8 pm on May 15th, 2019 leaving at least 11 injured.
The National Investigation Agency(NIA) has taken up a suo-moto cognizance in the grenade blast that rocked the Guwahati city in the evening hours of May 15th, 2019.
