The president of the Akhil Bharatiya Hindu Mahasabha’s Uttar Pradesh unit, Ranjeet Bachchan was shot dead by assailants this morning.

As per reports, the incident took place near Globe Park in Hazratganj area while he on a morning walk when two bike-borne masked men stopped their vehicle and shot him in his head multiple times.

Bachchan died on the spot while his brother has sustained serious injuries. He has been rushed to the trauma centre of King George’s Medical University (KGMU) for treatment.

Panic has gripped the Hazratganj area following the early morning shootout.

Police sources informed that the assailants tried to snatch Bachchan’s gold chain and cell phone and during the scuffle, the armed men open fired at him.

Deputy commissioner of police (central Lucknow) Dinesh Singh said that the forensic experts are scanning the spot and they are scanning all the CCTV cameras installed at the area. A total of six teams have been deployed to probe the case.
