Guwahati: In a major announcement, Assam chief minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Thursday stated that the board examinations of classes 10, 12 are likely to be conducted from July 15 to July 20, 2021.
The CM, however, said that the exams would be held only if the Covid-19 positivity rate in the state stands below 2 percent by July 1.
“If the positivity rate remains above 2 percent, the government will not risk the lives of students, thus, we will cancel the examination and consider school evaluation,” said Himanta Biswa Sarma.
He further added, “The examination dates might be scheduled for one day or maximum up to two days. All the protocols of the COVID-19 shall be maintained at the centres. However, an assessment of the COVID situation will be done on July 1. Following this, the final decision will be taken by the education department.”
The chief minister made the above statement while addressing the media at Assam Administrative Staff College in Khanapara, Guwahati.
The chief minister added that the government has considered the recommendations of various students’ groups and asked the students to keep preparing for the exams.
