Guwahati: The state health department has suggested the state government to allow inter-district movement of individuals on Mondays and Tuesdays every week till August 15.
It has also approved of the opening of all shops including gymnasiums, salons, and shopping malls on one side of the road in the city as per the existing relaxation.
State health minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Saturday said, “At least three more relaxations have been proposed till August 15. We have allowed inter-district travel on Mondays and Tuesdays weekly. Also, 100 percent attendance in offices has been allowed by adhering to COVID protocols.”
He said that the chief secretary will issue a detailed guideline soon.
The minister said that due to the imposition of lockdown in Guwahati, the COVID scene in the city has improved. “On July 4, the city had recorded 777 COVID 19 cases which have come down to below 300 now. I hope the situation will improve if the denizens here continue to adhere to the COVID protocols strictly,” he said.
Night curfew in the state to continue as usual.
With 1862 new COVID cases detected in 24 hours, Assam’s COVID toll rose to 40269 with 98 deaths. Almost 30,000 have recovered already.
