    GUWAHATI: Assam Jatiya Parishad (AJP) president Lurinjyoti Gogoi’s mother Dulu Gogoi has reportedly suffered a stroke caused by blood pressure on Monday morning.

    Sources close to Gogoi said that she has been taken to a private hospital in Dibrugarh immediately and currently undergoing medical attention.

    The incident forced Gogoi to cancel all his poll rallies scheduled on Monday. He was slated to campaign for his party in Jagiroad and Lahorighat on Monday. The second phase of elections will be held on April 1.

    Gogoi has too contested the state polls from two constituencies of Duliajan and Naharkatia. The voting at both the assembly seats had undergone in the first phase on Saturday.

    The AJP has been fighting the state poll in alliance with peasant leader Akhil Gogoi’s Raijor Dal, a regional front.
