Morigaon Man Suspected For Coronavirus Infection Admitted To Hospital

At a time when two confirmed coronavirus cases have been reported in Kerala, a man hailing from Assam’s Morigaon has been admitted to the Gauhati Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) for suspected coronavirus infection, as per several local media reports. 

It is said that the patient have recently come back from Kerala. As per media reports, the patient is kept in an isolation ward of the GMCH. No official statement was made by the state agencies in this regard at the time of filing this report.

The local TV channels reported that he was screened at the Lokapriya Gopinath Bordoloi International (LGBI) Airport in Guwahati upon his arrival from Kerala. Following which, he was referred to the GMCH. The first case in India was also reported in Kerala a few days ago.

In view of the outbreak of the virus, the Airport Authority of India in association with Assam government has set up a check-in screening counter at the LGBI Airport in Guwahati.

As per the guidelines issued by the government, two ambulances will be kept on stand-by outside the LGBI airport for emergency and an isolation ward is kept ready at the GMCH.
