Nagaon, January 20: The Srimanta Sankardev Sangha on Sunday said that the Prime Minister Narendra Modi will not attend the 44th annual session of the Sangha.
The session will start from February 6 in Morigaon.
It may be mentioned that the Sangha had sent invitation letter to the Prime Minister Office (PMO).
“We have not received any feedback from the PMO. So, we have omitted the programme from the list,” Sangha secretary Bhabendra Nath Deka said.
Prime Minister Modi was supposed to attend the session as a special invitee.
It may be mentioned that the Sangha has opposed the BJP-led NDA government’s move to implement the Citizenship (Amendment) Bill, 2016 and had also asked Modi not to attend the session.
Moreover, the Sangha on January 14 had slammed the state government for not releasing the financial assistance to organize the session that was assured by the government to the Sangha.
