Guwahati: Prime suspect in the Assam Police exam scam Diban Deka has been arrested by Criminal Investigation Department (CID) of the Assam police hours back.

Deka has been absconding ever since the revelation of Assam SI exam scam on September 20, when he was arrested in Patarkuchi in Nalbari district of lower Assam.

However, another prime suspect in the case, PK Dutta is still absconding. The police are yet to trace the whereabouts of Dutta.

The scheduled examination for SI (Unarmed branched) had to be cancelled on September 20 due to the leakage of the question paper.

In the FIR lodged at the CID, complainant former State Level Police Recruitment Board Assam, chairman Pradeep Kumar highlighted that Diban Deka informed Kumar of the leakage.

In connection with the case the crime branch and CID has arrested more than 15 persons from various districts of the state.

Around 66,000 candidates appeared for the exam on September 20.
