Breaking: Rajkanya Baruah re-arrested; Medical board says no serious condition

Guwahati: Model Rajkanya Baruah has been re-arrested from a private hospital in Guwahati on Wednesday afternoon on charges of knocking down 8 road workers in Rukminigaon.

Earlier in the day, a team of six doctors from Gauhati medical college hospital (GMCH) visited the private hospital to re-examine the health condition of Baruah who claimed to be unwell. She even skipped the police questioning earlier citing her health issues.

Police had written to GMCH to form a medical board to investigate the health issues claimed by Rajkanya.

However, moments after her GMCH doctors submitted her health report; police arrested her from the hospital where she was admitted in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU).

Meanwhile, GMCH superintendent Abhijit Sarma refusing to reveal the reports of Baruah said, “Our team has inspected her health and other medical reports and then submitted the final reports to the city police. The reports have been kept confidential and we cannot say anything regarding the matter.”

“We are in final conclusion but we cannot reveal this to the media. Our team has examined the patient. We cannot comment anything on medical terms,” he said.

To check her health condition, the Assam government has sent doctors from GMCH to the private hospital to re-examine her health condition.

Sources citing that the medical board has opined that there was no serious or acute condition that warranted her to be admitted into a hospital.

On Saturday night, the 29 year old allegedly knocked down eight PWD workers with her speeding car while driving in an “inebriated” condition in the city. However, she managed to get a bail within a few hours triggering widespread furor.

Two policemen were also ‘closed’ to police reserve on Tuesday for allegedly not registering the case under proper sections of law.
