    BREAKING: Seven IWT employees placed under suspension for ‘negligence’

    GUWAHATI: At least seven employees of the Inland Water Transport (IWT) department of the state were placed under suspension for negligence on duty.

    On Saturday, state’s transport minister Chandra Mohan Patowary has directed the IWT directorate to suspend the employees related to a pontoon that got partially submerged deployed at Chaulkhowa-Aparia-Gobardhan ferry service in Bongaigaon district for gross negligence of duties.

    Accordingly, director, IWT has placed Sahnur Ali, sectional assistant; Puspa Bora, laskar; Liladhar Nath, laskar; Tarani Kalita, field khalasi; Khalasis Maheswar Bhuyan, Dwarika Chowdhury and Mantu Kumar Goswami under suspension.

    “The incumbents will not leave headquarter without prior permission of the competent authority. The transport minister has stated that negligence of duty will not be tolerated and strict action will be taken against those found guilty,” said an official communiqué.
