    BREAKING: Tarun Gogoi’s health ‘critical’

    The three-time chief minister, Gogoi was discharged from the hospital on October 25 after he recovered from the COVID-19

    GUWAHATI: The health condition of Assam’s former chief minister Tarun Gogoi deteriorated on Saturday. Gogoi, suffering from post-Covid19 complicacy, though was in noninvasive ventilation but has been intubated on Saturday afternoon.

    The medical team inspecting his health round the clock said that he was critical till the filing of this report. Gogoi, re-admitted to the Gauhati medical college hospital a few days back after he complained of breathing problems.

    On Saturday, Assam health minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said, “He has slipped into a critical condition now. Medical experts from AIIMS (All India Institute of Medical Science) were consulted also. I pray for his speedy recovery.”

    Sarma added that he was intubated following health complicacy. Intubation is the process of inserting a tube, called an endotracheal tube (ET), through the mouth and then into the airway.

    He added that the functioning of his organs has come down drastically.

    “Since afternoon he is totally in a state of unconsciousness and is unable to recognise or respond to anyone,” Sarma informed media.

    The health minister also said that Gogoi was not in a condition to airlift to any other places for better medical treatment.

    The three-time chief minister, Gogoi was discharged from the hospital on October 25 after he recovered from the COVID-19 infection after 60 days of treatment at GMCH. He is 86 now.
