Guwahati: In a tragic incident, at least three coal mine labourers died and several others sustained injuries following a gas leak at a coal mine near Congress field in Tinsukia’s Ledu.

The three deceased labourers were identified as Shahidul Islam, Hussain Ali of Jogighopa in Bongaigaon district and Asmat Ali of Boguan in Goalpara district.

The family members of the victim alleged that one David Naga, owner of the coal mine has buried the bodies by using a JCB and had attempted to cover up the incident.

However, the competent authorities have not officially confirmed the allegations made by the families.

Meanwhile, a pall of gloom descended at the residences of deceased labourers.
