Guwahati: Assam Governor Professor Jagadish Mukhi on Tuesday suspended senior IPS officer Rounak Ali Hazarika for undertaking foreign tours since 2011.
As per the government notification, Rounak Ali Hazarika, presently posted as DIGP (Border-I), Assam had never obtained prior permission from the Home Department, Government of Assam for his ‘numerous’ foreign tours since the date of his joining the Assam Police Service.
A disciplinary proceeding has been initiated against the IPS Rounak Ali Hazarika (APS cadre in the year 1992) for allegedly flouting Government guidelines on several occasions and gross misconduct.
The Governor of Assam, in the exercise of powers conferred by clause (a) of sub-rule (i) of rule 3 of the All India Services (Discipline and Appeal) Rules, 1969, hereby places Rounak Ali Hazarika under suspension with immediate effect.
It is further ordered that during the period, the headquarters of Rounak Ali Hazarika shall be the office of the Director-General of Police.
Rounak Ali Hazarika has also been directed to not leave the said headquarters without obtaining the permission of the Governor of Assam.
