Guwahati: Ahead of the nation’s 75th Independence Day on Sunday, the United Liberation Front of Asom – Independent (ULFA-I) has extended its three month long unilateral ceasefire on Saturday for another three months.
“As our unilateral ceasefire announced on 15/05/2021 for three months will expire today but seeing there is no stability of the COVID-19 situation, ULFA-I have decided to extend the unilateral ceasefire for next three months,” a statement from the banned outfit read.
The statement is released by ULFA-I Commander-in-chief Paresh Baruah.
Earlier on May 15, ULFA-I announced a unilateral ceasefire citing the prevailing COVID-19 situation in the state.
