    BREAKING: Ulfa (I) to release abducted Quipoo employees ‘safely’

    GUWAHATI: Paresh Baruah led Ulfa (Independent) on Saturday announced that it would release the two captive employees of Quippo Oil and Gas Infrastructure Limited shortly.

    The militant outfit in an email statement said that it would soon release the duo-the company’s drilling superintendent Pranab Kumar Gogoi and radio operator Ram Kumar safely within a few days. It said that there was no hindrance for their release now.

    The duo was abducted by the outfit on December 21, 2020, from the company’s Kumchaikha hydrocarbon drilling site in Arunachal Pradesh’s Changlang district bordering Myanmar.

    Following the abduction, chief minister Sarbananda Sonowal and others also appealed to the militant outfit to release them on humanitarian grounds.
