BSF head constable killed by colleague with service rifle in Karimganj


Karimganj, October 11: A Border Security Force (BSF) head constable posted along the India-Bangladesh border in Karimganj district was killed and another seriously injured after a constable open fired at them with his service rifle on Tuesday night.

The incident took place at the Lakhipur border outpost in Karimganj district.

As per sources on duty constable Sriv Yogi Pandey, entered into an altercation and fired the two head constables killing Ashok Kumar and injuring Abhijit Paul and fled from the spot.

Pandey open fired with his insas rifle and shot nine rounds in which Kumar died on the spot, seriously injuring Paul.

As per police sources Paul has been seriously injuried in the attack and is under going treatment at Silchar medical college. He has been reffered to the Guwahati Medical College and Hopsital(GMCH).

In the meantime, the BSF along with Assam police launched a search operation and arrested the accused constable.

Further investigations are on the matter.
