BTC Accord implementation to be discussed on October 5


Kokrajhar, September 22: Review meeting on BTC accord implementation will be held on October 5 in New Delhi in the presence of officials from the centre.

Hagrama Mohilary, BTC chief, said, “During the meeting, implementation of several clauses including central assistance amounting to Rs 1000 crores to the council, granting of ST (Hills) status to the Bodo people in Karbi Anglong, functioning of departments will thoroughly be discussed.”

Mohilary also laid a foundation stone to construct staff quarters of the Upendra Nath Brahma Memorial Cultural Centre and Guest House at Salugara, Siliguri today. The construction of the quarter will be constructed at an amount of Rs 4.52 crore to facilitate staff and visitors in the region.

Mohilary also held a meeting with Boro Samaj delegation from West Bengal to discuss issues on the Bodo language and medium aspects in West Bengal.

Nabin Chandra Mandal, president of the West Bengal state Boro Samaj appraised about present prevailing status of Bodo medium and langauge in the state.
