GUWAHATI: The United People’s Party Liberal (UPPL) is heading over incumbent Bodoland People’s Front (BPF) in the counting of the Bodoland Territorial Council (BTC) polls on Saturday.
As per trends at the end of the first round, UPPL was leading 24 seats while BPF was leading in 9 seats. The counting of the postal votes has already eneded and now the ballot papers would be counted.
While BJP was leading in 5 seats, the alliance of Congress and All India United Democratic Front (AIUDF) was leading in 2 seats.
Kokrajhar MP Naba Kumar Sarania-led Gana Suraksha Party (GSP) was trailing in all 40 seats.
The counting of votes began on Saturday morning at 8 am on 10 counting centres across four BTR districts—Kokrajhar, Chirang, Baksa and Udalguri.
To form the next council, the magic number is 21 out of 40 seats in BTC.
