Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman on February 1st, 2020 presented the Union Budget 2020. A large number of items, including cigarettes, tobacco products, medical equipment among others will become dearer now. 

On the other hand, items such as raw sugar, certain alcoholic beverages, agro-animal based products, Tuna bait, skimmed milk among others will become cheaper.

Here’s the list:

DEARER

• Cigarettes, Tobacco products
• Footwear
• Furniture
• Medical equipment
• Wall fans
• Kitchenware, tableware: Customs duty on tableware, kitchenware made of porcelain or China ceramic, clay iron, steel, copper doubled to 20%.

CHEAPER

• Imported newsprint, lightweight coated paper
• Purified terephthalic acid (PTA)
• Raw Sugar
• Agro-animal based products
• Tuna bait
• Skimmed milk
• Certain alcoholic beverages
• Soya fibre, soya protein
