Prime Minister Narendra Modi during the ongoing Budget session of the parliament in the Lok Sabha assured the house that the newly enacted Citizenship Amendment Act(CAA) will not affect any citizen of the country including the Muslims.

“I want to clarify that there will be no impact on any citizen of India, whatever be their faith/religion, owing to the implementation of the CAA”, he said.

The Prime Minister accused the Congress of spreading misinformation about the law and also targeted Pakistan for attempting to influence the Muslims of India.

Narendra Modi quoted the first Prime Minister of India Pt Jawaharlal Nehru who favoured amending the law, if required, to ensure that minority refugees from neighbouring countries be granted protection by India.

He said that certain political parties are furthering Pakistan’s agenda of divisiveness in India and assured the lower house that the CAA is not going to affect any Indian citizen.

PM Modi also pointed out some “unacceptable” statements made by former chief ministers of Jammu and Kashmir and added that there are leaders who didn’t trust Kashmiri people but the government trusted the Kashmiris and abrogated Article 370.
