    Cabinet reshuffle on cards, hints BJP ahead of swearing-in ceremony

    BJP president Ranjeet Dass has the utmost chances of getting a ministerial post in the next Assam government, says MP Dilip Saikia

    Guwahati: A major overhaul of the old cabinet is likely to take place, hinted Mangaldai MP Dilip Saikia ahead of the swearing-in ceremony of the new Assam government on Monday.

    The swearing-in ceremony will be held at the city’s Srimanta Sankardev Kalakshetra.

    In the meanwhile, the BJP’s central leadership is at the PWD Inspection Bungalow here in Guwahati’s Amingaon for a meeting.

    As per sources, the central leadership is preparing the ministerial list of the new Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma’s mini-cabinet.

    BJP top leaders Baijayant Panda, BL Santosh along with Phani Sarma, MP Dilip Saikia, MP Pallab Lochan Das, MP Tapan Gogoi are present at the PWD Inspection Bungalow for the meeting.

    Speaking to the media, MP Dilip Saikia said, “A discussion on the initial preparation of the swearing-in ceremony was taken during the meeting. Special guests including the VVIPs and VIPs who will be present at the ceremony are also been taken into consideration. Covid protocols will be maintained strictly.”

    Saikia added, “Decisions regarding the ministerial list are on the cards. The central leadership along with Assam’s next Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma will take the final call on basis of the candidate’s performance, experience, etc.”

    Saikia also mentioned that state BJP president Ranjeet Dass has the utmost chances of getting a ministerial post in the next Assam government.

    The VVIP guests who are likely to participate in the swearing-in ceremony on Monday are BJP national president JP Nadda, Union Minister Jitendra Singh, Arunachal Chief Minister Pema Khandu, Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh, Tripura Chief Minister Biplab Dev, Nagaland Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio, Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma,  Meghalaya in-charge of BJP, Dr Chuba Ao and Arunachal Pradesh Deputy CM Chowna Mein, informed MP Saikia.
