Call for Peace: DNLA declared “Unilateral Ceasefire” for 6 months
Haflong: The Dimasa National Liberation Army (DNLA) on Tuesday declared a ceasefire for six months.
In its press release by its publicity secretary Ringsmai Dimasa says, “As a goodwill gesture and as a positive response to the call for Peace by Chief Minister of Assam, Himanta Biswa Sarma, we, the DNLA is hereby declaring “Unilateral Ceasefire” on September 7, 2021, for six months for creating an atmosphere for peace talks with the Govt. of Assam and Government of India…”
Interestingly, the decision has come amid the Centre on Wednesday has entered into a ‘Ceasefire Agreement’ with the National Socialist Council of Nagaland (K) Niki faction, with effect from September 8 for a period of one year. More than 200 cadres of this group along with 83 weapons joined the peace process.
It may be mentioned that the government of India has already signed a Framework Agreement with NSCN (IM) and Ceasefire Agreements with other Naga groups namely, NSCN (NK), NSCN(R) and NSCN (K)-Khango.
