GUWAHATI: The cash-for-jobs scam accused medical practitioner Ajanta Hazarika was suspended from her services in the Assam Medical College & Hospital (AMCH).
She was serving as the additional superintendent of the institution and deputy superintendent of proposed Tinsukia Medical College.
Superintendent of the AMCH, Prashanta Dihingia informed that her suspension order was recently issued by the state health department.
Hazarika was arrested on charges of graft. She allegedly took Rs 22 lakh from job aspirants promising them of jobs in the Northeast Frontier Railways (NFR). She has been in jail as her bail plea was rejected by a local court in Dibrugarh recently.
After evading arrest for some 22 days, she had surrendered before the court on December 28. Police have already arrested her husband Simanta Jyoti Hazarika and sent him to judicial custody.
Cash-for-jobs the complainant alleged that he had already transferred half of the amount sought by Ajanta Hazarika to the bank accounts of Rajeev Pasashar at Sixmile in Guwahati.
Parashar was also accused in a separate case of allegedly extorting money from candidates of various other public service recruitment examinations.
