Central team visits Assam to assess the flood, landslide damages
Visit of IMCT in Chirang district

Guwahati:A high level Inter-Ministerial Central Team (IMCT) comprised of seven numbers of members from different Central ministries visited various districts of Assam for on-spot assessment of the flood/landslide damages during the current year.

The team visited various flood affected areas on Tuesday and Wednesday.

The team wrapped up the details with the senior officials of Assam on Wednesday at Assam State Disaster Management Authority (ASDMA) in Dispur. The Team was headed by Manish Tiwari, Joint Secretary (JKL), MHA.

The Central team discussed about the damages and loss of the livelihood and properties of the visiting districts of Assam viz. Bongaigaon, Chirang and Lakhimpur with state government.

Assam government urged the Central team to consider releasing of the fund under National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) for repair and restoration works against the damages during current year flood.

Further, the Team was also urged to consider Erosion as an item admissible under SDRF/NDRF in their report to the Govt. of India (GoI), as the State suffers heavily due to river erosion every year.  Tiwari in this regard, assured the state government and said that they will submit the report with recommendations very soon to the Centre. It may be mentioned that, this year state government has requested for release of Rs. 1088.19 Crores from SDRF/NDRF for repair and restoration works.
