Guwahati: The Central Government has approved the Mawshynrut-Hahim road construction project under NERSDS of Ministry of Development of Northeast Region (MDoNER).
A sum amount of Rs 99.76 Crores has been sanctioned for the construction of the 37 Km long highway connecting West Khasi Hills district of Meghalaya to Hahim and Boko of Assam.
Meghalaya chief minister Conrad Sangma on Wednesday expressed his gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Ministry of Development for North Eastern region (DoNER) minister, Jitendra Singh for the approval.
Taking to Twitter, he wrote: “Gratitude to Hon’ble PM @narendramodi ji & @DrJitendraSingh JI fpr approving the Mawshynrut to Hahim 37 kms Road Project at Rs 99.76 Cr under #NERSDS of @MDoNER_India, connecting #WestKhasiHills District, #Meghalaya closer to Hahim & Boko in #Assam.”
The chief minister had last year met Union Minister for road transport and highways, Nitin Gadkari to discuss four road projects including the Mawshynrut to Hahim road project.
Gadkari had assured him of all assistance from the centre to implement these road projects in Meghalaya.
