Charges to be framed today in Dokmoka mob lynching case

Guwahati, November 8: The Nagaon District Court will frame charges against the 46 people accused in the  Dokmoka lynching case on Thursday.

Two Guwahati boys – Nilotpal Das and Abhijit Nath – were lynched by a mob in Karbi Anglong on June 8 on the suspicion of being child-lifters. The incident took place near Panjuri Kachari under Dokmoka Police Station.

Among the accused, there is also a juvenile who is currently lodged at the Jorhat Juvenile Home.

The charge sheet contained 844 pages of charges against the accused along with 104-page case diary. It was filed on September 1. The charge sheet also has as many as 71 witnesses. The charges have been framed under Sections 302, 341, 142, 427, 143/144(I), 147 and 149 of the Indian Penal Code.
