The flow of tourists to Meghalaya has seen a steep rise over the years. The Meghalaya government too has taken a series of initiatives to boost the tourism sector like shooting of Bollywood movies. Tourists love to surrender themselves among the lush green forests, rich mountains, lakes and streams.

To get the best of Meghalaya, it is advised to plan a 5-6 days trip. When in the hill state, make sure to visit the high-altitude town of Cherrapunji. It is known for its living root bridges, made from rubber trees and is the wettest place on earth with an average annual rainfall of 11,872 millimetres (467.4 in).

Apart from Cherrapunji, there are places like Nohakalikai Falls, Umiam Lake, Mawlynnong Village, Laitlum Canyon, Dawki River, Mawsynram, Elephant Falls to name a few.
