Chennai resident four murder accused arrested from Assam’s Jorhat

Guwahati: The Perumbakkam police squad returned from Assam’s Jorhat district on Wednesday with four murder accused who had jumped bail four years ago and fled to their native place.

The four accused identified as Shiv Om Nayak (26), Bijoy Nayak (24), George Munda (25) and Sanjay Bala (21).

According to sources, police squad headed by inspector T Magudeeswari had spent more than three months on the trail of the four accused.

According to police, the case dates back to 2015, when four workers at a construction site in Perumbakkam killed Younis, a 22-year-old coworker.

According to sources, when they ran out of money, they would borrow from one another. When Younis wanted his money back, the four got into a brawl. They later got intoxicated and killed Younis. They had a murder charge filed against them.

The four accused were granted conditional bail in 2018. They then ran away to Assam after bail. After than police were unable to trace them, a non-bailable warrant was issued against them, said sources.

Inspector Magudeeswari of Perumbakkam took up the investigation three months ago and travelled to Assam with a team. They stayed there for a while, attempting to track down the four.
