    Citizenship Act Is Not To Revoke Anyone’s Citizenship, It Is To Give Citizenship: Modi

    Narendra Modi paid his rich tributes to the founder of Ramakrishna Mission, Swami Vivekananda on his 157th birth anniversary

    Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who is on a two-day visit to Bengal attended the morning prayers at Ramakrishna Mission on the occasion of Swami Vivekananda’s birth anniversary on January 12th, 2020.

    Prime Minister allying fears over the contentious Citizenship Amendment Act(CAA) said that the act will not take away the citizenship of anyone but a law to give citizenship to persecuted minorities.

    “I will say again. CAA has nothing to do with taking away anyone’s citizenship rights. It is a law to give citizenship to persecuted minorities.” He said while addressing a rally in Belur Math on the outskirts of Kolkata.

    “After independence, Mahatma Gandhi ji and other big leaders all believed that India should give citizenship to persecuted religious minorities of Pakistan,” he added in his speech.

    Accusing the political parties of misleading the people, Modi said that some parties are playing political games with it and urged the people not to divert their attention.

    He also paid tributes to the founder of Ramakrishna Mission, on his 157th birth anniversary. Paying his rich tributes to Swami Vivekananda he said, “Swami Vivekananda lives in the hearts and minds of crores of Indians, especially the dynamic youth of India for whom he has a grand vision. Today, on Vivekananda Jayanti and National Youth Day I am at the Belur Math, including the room where Swami Ji meditated”.
