New Delhi, January 9: Assam Pradesh Congress Committee president Ripun Bora on Wednesday said that the Centre could have tabled the controversial Citizenship (Amendment) Bill, 2016 during the Parliament session in February.
“The ruling party extended the Rajya Sabha sitting by one day only to table the Bill. They did so to fulfill their vote bank agenda. They could have easily tabled the Bill in the February session,” said Bora.
He added, “They (BJP) became desperate to get the Bill passed by hook or by crook. The Bill was not included in today’s list of business of the Rajya Sabha session but they have brought it through a supplementary list of business.”
