NGBF called a 12-hour Nagaland bandh on February 11

Guwahati, February 9, 2019

Nagaland Gaon Burhas Federation (NGBF) called a 12-hour statewide shutdown on February 11th, 2019 against the controversial Citizenship (Amendment) Bill. The bandh has been supported by the Central Nagaland Students’ Association (CNSA), tribal hohos and civil society organizations.

The CNSA President Himato Yeputho hailed the initiative taken by NGBF to oppose the controversial Citizenship (Amendment) Bill and for early settlement of the Naga political issue. The NGBF took the decision at a meeting held with tribal hohos and civil society groups which appealed all apex tribal organizations to impose the band in their districts.

The federation has submitted a memorandum to the President and Prime Minister of India and has also taken a resolution to hold a mass prayer on February 10th, 2019 in all churches in Nagaland on the two issues.
