City police unearth fake government job scam in Assam, Arrests 3
Guwahati: The city police on Friday unearthed a fake government job scam after the department tracked the whereabouts of three fraudsters operating from a hotel in Guwahati.
The police arrested three people in connection to the incident including the mastermind identified as Trilokya Saikia who claimed himself to be a top-ranking government official.
According to the Joint Commissioner of Police, Partha Sarathi Mahanta, the gang has conned over 100 job aspirants on the pretext of providing jobs in the department of Directorate of Health & Family Welfare, Assam.
“The gang collected about Rs 3 lakh each from every job aspirant on the pretext of providing jobs in the department of Directorate of Health & Family Welfare, Assam. Based on input from our reliable source, we conducted a search operation on Friday and caught them red-handed in Guwahati. Today, they called on 42 job aspirants in the hotel in the guise of candidate’s verification.”
The senior police cop also informed that the gang provided fake appointment letters to the job aspirants and also made their fake service sheets.
JCP Mahanta also mentioned that no government officials from the health department were involved in the scam.
