Guwahati: In a tragic incident, a student of class 11 died when a speeding school bus hit her in Guwahati’s Ganeshguri on Thursday morning.

The incident took place in front of Rajdhani Masjid when deceased was on her way to school with her elder sister, who was riding pillion.

The victim has been identified as Priya Kumari.

As per sources, a speeding school bus collided with the scooter they were riding in, before fleeing from the spot.

Following the incident, the minor girl was killed on the spot. Meanwhile, her sister sustained serious injuries and was admitted to a hospital for medical treatment.

Local police reached the spot and started investigation.

Later, the bus driver was arrested by Basistha police and taken into custody. Police also seized the school bus.

The driver of the bus has been identified as Bipul Boro.
