CM Sarma inaugurates 308 bedded Covid hospital at Sarusajai stadium in Guwahati
Guwahati: Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Thursday inaugurated the 308 bedded Covid hospital at Sarusajai stadium in Guwahati.
The hospital was set up by Defence Research & Development Organisation (DRDO) for Covid-19 patients.
It is learned that this temporary COVID hospital will be affiliated with Gauhati Medical College Hospital (GMCH).
Taking to Twitter, CM Himanta Biswa Sarma said, “The Hospital is equipped with a liquid oxygen tank to ensure continuous supply of oxygen to patients. It shall be refilled weekly. COVID 19 treatment MMCH & Singimari hospital will stop. GMCH & DRDO hospital shall be available for treatment of COVID patients from now onwards.”
The Hospital will have a life span of 5 years, which can be further extended, stated Himanta Biswa Sarma in his tweet.
Out of 300 beds, 100 are ICU and 200 are oxygen beds.
As per reports, this hospital will have 18 specialist doctors, 120 nurses and 30 general practitioners.
State Health Minister Keshab Mahanta was also present at the opening ceremony.
Meanwhile, another 20-bed ICU & 32 Oxygen Supported Beds at Kalapahar COVID Care Hospital, an annex of GMCH was also inaugurated by the Chief minister.
